My sim legacy update

My sim legacy has been shaping up nicely.  I don't "play" the family often, and taking a break from actually playing the game for having a freezing issue, I decided to fire up the game today and see if my family survived the freezing issue (still don't know what caused the issue, but it seemed to fix itself).

All in one day...Kyla aged up to a toddler.  About 2 minutes after that, I got a pop up that Logan, Kayla's father, was a new father to baby Erin. Then after, what seemed like eternity, Felicity (my heiress) went into labor and had little Henry James.

Landon and Logan have moved out of the Jones residence, and since I have Twallan's SP I can rest assured they are not going anywhere.  What I find interesting is that Landon is the oldest sibling and was married when Logan and Felicity were just teens...yet he and wife, Sidney, haven't had any kids (nor have I gotten any pop ups stating that they are expecting).

  1. Congrats on the new gran-babies:) I've been having some issues with freezing when saving with Atsumi & the gang in LP. It started after the 1.38 patch I believe since it was fine before that (don't have the 1.39 since I don't have SN).

    1. That is when the freezing issue started happening to me as well! Before 1.38, it was fine, then after....ugh. Only mine saves fine. It freezes every few minutes for about 10-30 seconds while in game mode. This used to happen when a sim would go through a door/arch, but now it does it very often. Build mode runs fine though...only when I am in game mode.

Someone suggested the "Resetsim *" cheat, and although the cheat works, it doesn't really fix the issue.

Another thing I've been noticing with the 1.38 patch...I have, under Options-Population Control, all the vamps, celebs, pets, and horses checked off (I don't really want them in my game--especially the stray animals (they seem to get stuck the easiest), yet the animals still show up! Not sure if the population control takes care of the strays, but I would think it would since they are part of the population.

  2. So maybe the 1.38 is causing some issues then. After I installed that patch, I started the roomies game in Sunlit Tides, which ran smooth as butter - no freezing of any kind. In the LP game, in addition to freezing while saving, it does randomly freeze in live mode as well. I just saw on the forums that someone can't play SV after installing Supernatural (which means they have the 1.38 patch as well, possibly also the 1.39 - don't think that did anything but fix the zombie spawning though.) SV just crashes for her and doesn't save properly. I'll play Sunlit Tides and check if everything still runs smoothly there, and if it does maybe move Atsumi & co there as well. I really want them to stay in LP, but I also really want to play them and not wait for another patch that may or may not fix things.

    1. I think I saw that post as well. Sunset Valley is the worse for me, even with starting a new town, and I don't even have Supernatural yet. I was reading on the forum a bunch of people have been experiencing issues with their game since the patch came out (both with and without Supernatural)among other issues (like that other member).

Sunlit Tides isn't as bad as Sunset Valley for me (it's much more bearable for me)...which surprises me since SV is a plain town/new game (no builds or editing of the town--none of my created sims live there), yet it lags and freezes the most. I haven't installed the 1.39 patch since I don't have Supernatural--seemed irrelevant for me to install it when it fixes something I don't have yet LOL. I did notice, as I stated before, that I cannot turn off the zombie/witch population (it says I need the EP to do that), so it's constantly checked off to populate those creatures. I'm wondering if that could be a possible cause for the game freezing in people's games that don't yet own the EP (or don't plan to own the EP) but have installed the patch since it came with the patch...the game could be trying to spawn those creatures, from the population script in options, when there is no script for it to actually spawn the sim itself thus causing it to freeze each time (I hope that made sense--lol!). I'm hoping they will fix this soon though. It's becoming a bit unbearable. I was just now trying to take pics of a sim I want to upload, and it was freezing while I was trying to take pics of her! >_<

  3. B, what a beautiful family! Not only do you share Darcy's beauty spot but also her last name lol :D

Hey about this freezing and what not, my LP game it's quite horrid to play. Freezing and generally bugging out on me. I have the latest patch yet my SV plays just fine. I've not experienced issues there yet but I am still in the process of moving my favourites over to it.
B, I'm wondering if you have story progression? I had the same thing - EA population controls not working but I put it down to a conflict with story progression or - to find the population settings in SP/MC and do it from there. As it is, I dont have any of nraas mods installed at the moment as I had a clear out, I'll play my town for a little and see if the ea population controls are working and let you know xx

    1. Thank you! :D It's my bf and daughter's last name...wish it were mine. lol Mine is long and hard to pronounce for a lot of people. :P

I do have Twallan's SP mod. I'll have to check it out later when I open the game.

I realized last night, that the conflict I thought could be causing the freezing isn't...possible since someone told me that if the population box is checked off that means you "don't" want that creature populating the world (good to know...I couldn't figure out which it was (checked or not)), so that would mean that those 3 Supernatural creatures are not populating my worlds.

Someone told me to try removing my mods (especially Error Trap) to see if the freezing stopped. I did, but I knew what was going to happen...crashed to desktop during load-up. :(

Oh I wanted to ask the two of you...how are you getting the emoticons to show up on your posts in your blogs? Mine doesn't do that. Did you have to download a certain mod that allows it to do it, or set blogspot to allow them? I hate that mine doesn't do them....

  4. Hey I discovered something...it has to do with the freezing issue in the sims 3 that we're talking about.
If you have "Overwatch" go to 'edit town' and click on city hall then Nraas>Overwatch>settings.  From there go down the list and look for these options: clean up all homeless (near top of list), clean up situations (near middle of list), and stuck check (near bottom of list).  If they say "false" change them to "true" (you can change all three by holding down CTRL and clicking on each), then hit "ok/checkmark".  I did this this morning, played for an hour after changing these, and have yet to have any freezing!  Some minimal jittering here and there, but I've yet to experience any major freezing!

Try it and see if it works for you. :)

  5. I was quite discouraged when I played the roomies in ST earlier tonight. I save often and the first save was okay, then when I tried to save again a little later it just froze and quite to desktop. Lovely. Then I came here and saw what you said about the Overwatch settings. I had the stuck check set to true already, but not the homeless and situation ones. So I set those to true as well. And I played for 2 hrs with no issues at all (would play longer if it was so late here now), no freezes and problems with saving. I did get 2 pop-ups about unroutable sims, I'm guessing that's the situation clean up thing. I'm crossing my fingers that these settings will do the trick in my LP game as well so I don't have to move them. I will try tomorrow. Thanks for the tip:)

    1. I was telling some others on facebook that I've been reading that if you have the SP mod, it could be the cause for the lagging/freezing. I removed mine (along with Woohoo-er)--it wasn't an easy decision to make though--and that minimized my freezing/lagging quite a bit.

I also need to do a cleaning of my computer and defrag it soon. Haven't done my monthly computer cleaning yet.

I don't know what else to do if the freezing comes back to the point it takes me an hour to do a simple task in the game. :(
