I haven't been around....much. Actually I haven't been here for the entire week.
Monday morning I decided to do a sort of "deep-clean" of my laptop. Not just by using the Crap Cleaner and Defragging, but externally by removing the keys from my keyboard and cleaning underneath them. I
thought I was being cautious by doing this task on the kitchen table. Anyone that knows me, via the internet or personally, knows I am a coffee addict, and yes, I had a coffee with me that morning. I had it in my travel cup, which is insulated. This was stupid on my part...I put the coffee cup next to my laptop while I was cleaning it. Anyway...things were going fine for about the first 10 minutes or so, and then my daughter came in and tried to put one of the keys I had popped off into her mouth. Quickly, yet in a panicked reaction I jumped up to remove the key from her and in the process I spilled my coffee...onto the keyboard of my laptop.
Now seeing as it wasn't a lot, and I'm serious about that...it wasn't a lot, it was enough liquid to obviously do the damage it needed to do. I am surprised since this has happened before...don't ask please...*sigh*....and that time had more liquid in it than this had, but I suppose it was the straw that broke the camel's back (or in this case, the laptop's back). I immediately flipped the computer upside down, unplugged it and removed the battery. It stay like that for 4 days. About 3 days after the incident I tried to boot it up. It flicked on, but shut off immediately. At this point we were thinking it was a lost cause and started looking for a new laptop ((it was and still is) . Sure it flickered on several times between then and now, but the damage has been done. I can't see it actually "fixing" itself...that would be a miracle.
So anyway...lesson learned. New laptop. Upgrade IMO. Samsung 17.3" LED back-lit screen. HD Intel Graphics card, 2.53GHz, Intel Core i3 Processor, 4GB Memory, 500GB Hard Drive space (which is split into to drives--C and D drive--which I hate). So far not a bad computer.
I am currently installing all my sims 3 games. 3 disks left to go..12:40am...Late Night (Ironically) will the be last disk installed tonight. The other 3 can wait until tomorrow. What I am saddest about is the thought that I may have lost all my game saves/creations/CC. I cannot, for the life of me, remember if I backed them up onto my portable drive (when I got it) or not. If not...I just lost all the creations I have on here (that mediafire has been removing). The thing is...the morning that I spilled on my laptop, I was planning on uploading those creations to another file sharing site. I really wish I had done that first. I'm not looking forward to plugging in my portable hard-drive. I have a sinking feeling I know what
won't be there despite my bf trying to make me feel better by telling me he thinks he remembers me saying I had backed those files on to the drive.
Anyway, it's late, Late Night just finished installing...think it's time to hit the sack.
Thank you my wonderful boyfriend for replacing my laptop (with an upgraded one). ♥♥♥ I solemnly swear I will not have drinks around this one.
